FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Everything you need to know before your first class
Whether you're completely new to Pilates or an experienced practitioner, we're here to make your experience at Athletica Pilates enjoyable, welcoming and rewarding. If your question isn't answered below, please contact us — we're always happy to help.
NEW TO ATHLETICA PILATES
I've never done Pilates before. Can I still attend?
Absolutely. Many of our clients begin their Pilates journey with us. Our Equipment Studio classes are limited to just four clients, allowing our instructors to tailor exercises to your experience level, fitness and any injuries or limitations.
If you're unsure where to start, contact us and we'll recommend the most suitable class or membership for you.
Why is Athletica Pilates different?
Athletica Pilates offers a boutique Pilates experience at The Tramsheds in Forest Lodge, with a strong focus on personalised instruction.
Unlike many larger reformer studios, our Studio classes are limited to a maximum of four clients and utilise the full range of traditional Pilates equipment, including Reformers, Cadillacs, Wunda Chairs, Barrels and Spine Correctors.
Our instructors hold comprehensive Pilates qualifications and are passionate about helping every client move better, become stronger and achieve long-term results.
Why is Athletica Pilates different from large group reformer studios?
The difference is the highly personalised experience we provide. Rather than the 20–40 person classes typical of large reformer Pilates studios around Sydney's Inner West, Athletica offers:
a maximum of four clients per Equipment Studio class
a maximum of ten clients per Group Reformer class
individualised programming
hands-on coaching
access to the full Pilates apparatus
highly qualified instructors
For many clients, this level of personal attention delivers better technique, faster progress and greater confidence.
BEFORE YOUR FIRST CLASS
What should I wear?
Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely. Grip socks are recommended for safety and hygiene.
What should I bring?
Please bring:
Grip socks
A water bottle
A small towel if preferred
Everything else is provided.
How early should I arrive?
Please arrive 10–15 minutes before your first class. This allows time to meet your instructor, discuss any injuries or health concerns and become familiar with the studio.
Can I attend if I'm pregnant or have an injury?
Yes, in many cases. Please let us know before your class if you are pregnant, have an injury or have any medical condition that may affect your exercise.
Our instructors can often modify exercises to suit your needs, however we recommend obtaining medical clearance where appropriate.
BOOKINGS & CLASSES
How do I book a class?
Classes can be booked through the Athletica Pilates app or website. Bookings are essential as class sizes are intentionally limited — you can view the timetable and book on our Book a Class page.
Can I join a waitlist?
Yes. If your preferred class is full, you can join the waitlist.
If a place becomes available, you may be automatically added to the class. Once your booking is confirmed, our normal cancellation policy applies.
What happens if I'm running late?
Please allow plenty of travel time. For the safety of everyone in the class, late entry may not be permitted once the class has commenced.
If you miss your class, your booking will be treated in accordance with our cancellation policy.
What if I need to cancel?
Please cancel your booking through the Athletica Pilates booking system. To avoid a late cancellation fee or forfeiting your class credit, cancellations must be made:
Studio Classes: at least 24 hours before your class
Reformer Classes: at least 12 hours before your class
Late cancellations and no-shows are subject to the conditions of your membership or class pack.
What is a no-show?
A no-show occurs when you do not attend a booked class without cancelling within the required cancellation period. No-shows are treated the same as late cancellations.
MEMBERSHIPS
Which membership is right for me?
The best membership depends on your goals, lifestyle and how often you'd like to attend. If you're unsure, our team can recommend the option that provides the greatest value for your individual circumstances.
Can I change my membership?
Yes. Once your minimum commitment has been completed, we're happy to help you move to a membership that better suits your needs.
Can I pause my membership?
Memberships may be placed on hold in approved circumstances, such as travel, illness or injury, subject to our Membership Terms & Conditions.
Please contact us before your next billing date to discuss your options.
Can I cancel my membership?
Yes. Memberships can be cancelled once the minimum commitment period has been completed by providing written notice: 7 days for Group Reformer Memberships and 30 days for Equipment Studio Memberships, in accordance with our Membership Terms & Conditions.
Do unused classes roll over?
Membership class credits are valid for the week of issue unless otherwise stated. Unused credits do not roll over and cannot be redeemed for cash.
Can I purchase extra classes?
Yes. If you would like to attend more classes than those included in your membership, additional classes can be purchased through your Athletica account.
Can I share my membership or class pack?
No. Memberships and class packs are personal to you and cannot be shared, transferred or sold.
PAYMENTS
How are memberships billed?
Memberships are automatically billed using your nominated payment method on the billing cycle applicable to your membership.
What happens if my payment fails?
If a payment cannot be processed, we may attempt to process it again. Your account and future bookings may be temporarily restricted until the outstanding balance has been paid.
STUDIO EXPERIENCE
Are your instructors qualified?
Yes. Our instructors have completed comprehensive Pilates education and continue their professional development to ensure clients receive safe, effective and high-quality instruction.
Do instructors provide hands-on corrections?
Yes. Our instructors may provide tactile cueing or hands-on corrections to assist with alignment, technique and safety.
If you would prefer not to receive physical adjustments, simply let your instructor know before class.
What if I leave something behind?
We keep lost property for 7 days. Unclaimed items may then be donated or disposed of.
GIFT CARDS & PRIVATE SESSIONS
Do you sell gift vouchers?
Yes. Gift vouchers are available and make a wonderful gift for family and friends. Please contact us or visit our website for current options.
Do you offer private sessions?
Yes. Private Pilates sessions are available at our Forest Lodge studio for clients seeking individual instruction, rehabilitation support or accelerated progression. Please contact us to discuss availability.
